I wouldnt be worried about the lead, I would be worried about some of the toxics, cleaners, etc. so w/out knowing what paint you will use, would say... have the boy helping you guys... but the girl better stay with grandma :)) Is all depend on what paint you using. Can't you take turns watching her and painting? I was painting my sons room with green grass at the bottom of the wall and he was walking around naked (three at the time) and he threw his head back to drink out of a soda bottle and threw himself off balance and his whole body landed smack in my tray of green paint. He just froze. I didnt know what to do cause I didnt want to get paint all over but it was tile so I grabbed one leg and one arm and carried him to the tub, lol. So my advice would be to keep them away from the paint.
