What Is The Name Of The Book About A Kid Who Ran Away And Played The Piano In The Great Depression?

Posted on October 29th, 2009 in Articles by Tangkau

In the story, the kid ran away from home with his little brother following. They jumped a train where his friend died. He eventually ended up playing piano for a traveling circus while his brother learned and played the banjo. In the end, they go back home as the great depression lifts. I read it as a kid and would like my son to read it as well because it describes how hard times were back then. I thank you in advance for your help!

Begging (mostly Joey) and scrounging in garbage cans (only Josh) keep them afloat until…”
