for kids, it's about 8-10 hours of sleep, they are growing and their body needs rest, you have to keep in mind that kids at young age are very hyper and active. so they really need their full rest, not just for growth but for a healthy living, i've baby sat alot of kids, watched alotof kids grow, and they to bed around 8-9 and wake up the other day at 8-9.so it's really upto you but they should atleast have 7 hours of sleep.

I don't think a specific time really matters- when your tired you should go to bed or when your child is tired he or she should go to bed. It's really important to listen to your body. For growth to be effective- your child should sleep as much as necessary for their body- and no experts don't recommend that children get 7-8 hours of sleep more like 10-12 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep contributes to major health problems, surprisingly obesity.
