I pay child support for my two children and at the time my employer pays for their’s and my health insurance. My employer is proposing that next year we will have to pay toward our health insurance premums. It is my olbligation alone or does my spouse have to “kick in” toward the health insurance premiums?

I got a message from my ex-wife that she needs a letter from me stating how much I pay in child support so that she and the kids can get Tenncare. She is telling me that she “had to agree to let them go after me for health insurance on the kids”, but that it should not matter since I already provide it. I have applied for medical insurance. I was declined because 11 months ago, I spent 4 days in the hospital for viral meningitis. I am outraged that I was declined. I have four children and am desperate for insurance. I have had to look at my baby lying lethargic on the floor and decide if she was sick enough to take to the ER. Americans should NOT have to do this. Any suggestions?
I just got married in February and although we have been together a long time DSHS never took my “boyfriends” income into consideration, so my kids had insurance through the state of Washington. Now, because we are married, they count his income and we make too much to qualify. this leaves my kids with no insurance and to buy insurance through his work is no better than buying your own private insurance and would be about $600 a month for two kids. How do they expect us to afford this when we can barely pay our rent and buy groceries? I have tried Basic Health, SCHIP and all the low income insurers and we are just over all of their qualifications. I already stay at home so we can’t make less money. We are seriously considering getting divorced (and staying together of course) just so our kids can be healthy. Are there any other options???
