How do you get your kids signed up for toys for tots? Or the Christmas Food Baskets. I live in Waukegan Illinois and I lost my job in October and I’m on unemployment. I qualified for WIC, and my two girls qualified for all kids insurance. I tried calling the salvation army in the area but the prerecorded message said they are not taking on any new clients until January. Money is really tight.
I’m referring to the parents who have high paying professional jobs that require them to travel a lot and who are not home all the time with their kids. The type of parents who hire maids or have the money to send their children to boarding schools.
I don’t like to over generalize, but I’m just curious to know what normally happens to these types of kids on average.

My friend was telling me about a movie where a kid somehow buys a prostitute (I can’t remember how he gets the money), then sneaks her into his Sex Ed class while the teacher leaves to go to the bathroom. Apparently the kid just points at the prostitute’s body parts. Then the prostitute leaves before the teacher comes back (I think).
I thought she said the movie was either Kids or Gummo, but I saw both of these movies and that scene wasn’t in either of them.
I will be babysitting 3 kids ages 9, 8, and 4 from Thursday evening through Sunday evening…3 full days. The kids don’t have school on Friday, so I will be home with them all day. I normally charge this family $12 per hour, but for 3 days I will be charging a flat rate. Parents and babysitters, what do you think is a fair asking price?

healthy foods should not be expensive since you have to cook it yourself. All those expensive foods are the ones where it is laden with chemicals. some might be cheap like mcdonalds but if you make it yourself it is just as cheap.
Governor Rendell has made it so that every single kid — even if the kid is from a billionaire’s family — is entitled to buy insurance at a reduced rate in PA.
Why isn’t Rendell giving the money to the truly needy?
I just got married in February and although we have been together a long time DSHS never took my “boyfriends” income into consideration, so my kids had insurance through the state of Washington. Now, because we are married, they count his income and we make too much to qualify. this leaves my kids with no insurance and to buy insurance through his work is no better than buying your own private insurance and would be about $600 a month for two kids. How do they expect us to afford this when we can barely pay our rent and buy groceries? I have tried Basic Health, SCHIP and all the low income insurers and we are just over all of their qualifications. I already stay at home so we can’t make less money. We are seriously considering getting divorced (and staying together of course) just so our kids can be healthy. Are there any other options???
