How Come Some Kids Respond Positively To Spanking While Others Don’t?

Posted on November 4th, 2009 in Articles by Tangkau

Why is it that there are some kids who respond positively to spanking, learn lessons from it and are made better people by it, and others who respond negatively and are disturbed or even scarred by it? Like, you see a kid every now and then who grows up to have a spanking fetish or something. Are kids’ minds really so drastically different?
I kind of think the effectiveness of discipline depends not so much on the method as on the kid. Like, there are some kids with whom it won’t work, others with whom it will. Is that right?

What Are Some Emergency Care Tips For Baby Rats That Have Been Abandoned By Their Mother?

Posted on August 2nd, 2009 in Articles by Tangkau

A friend found a litter of baby rats in her backyard this morning. The mother appears to have died, or abandoned them. They have hair, about 1 inch long, and appear to be at least a week or so old. They roamed around the yard all day looking for food, water, their mother. Most have since died from heat exposure, dehydration, but two remain. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep the remaining two alive until they can find someone to remove them from the backyard? They definitely don’t plan on keeping them around, but they don’t want to kill them either.

What Are Some Tips For Getting Rid Of Or Avoiding Gas In Babies?

Posted on July 20th, 2009 in Articles by Tangkau

NEVER give HONEY to a baby. NEVER NEVER!! Please do not take that advice. It could give your baby botulism and kill them. Seriously. Their tiny tummies don’t have the same acids in them ours do, and the acids are not strong enough to kill off the microorganisms found in honey.
Mylicon drops are helpful if used somewhat sparingly.
Burp between breasts if you nurse and every 2-3 oz if you formula feed, and at the end of each feeding. Also, if you lay baby on your lap belly down, and rub their back so the belly rubs on your knees, it can help them release gas buildup. If they don’t like that, you can bicycle their legs a few times, then gently but firmly press their knees into their belly, and it can help them toot.
Hope that helps, and please, no honey.
